Colchester Heritage Tour with High Steward Sir Bob Russell - Tour B *

Enjoy an entertaining and fact-filled walk around the country's oldest recorded town, in the company of former Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell.

The thing is, there's just so much history in Colchester - far too much to fit in to one walk. So there is now three different versions - A, B and X- all starting at Colchester Arts Centre. They will run alternately - so if you enjoyed one, why not try the others?!

Tours start at 10am unless otherwise specified.

"The routes will embrace ancient and modern" says Sir Bob, who is also a former Mayor of Colchester as well as being the Town's MP for 18 years until 2015. He was appointed to the honorary position of High Steward in the autumn of that year.

The estimated time of the walk, with stops for commentary, is two hours.
Places on each tour are limited to a maximum of 20 people.

Tours A & B focus on the town centre, tour X is “A Roam Around Roman Colchester” with its main feature being walking the entire length of the Roman Circus.

Sir Bob is also willing to do tours for groups and "specials" for individuals on other days of the week - minimum donation request of £25. Alternatively Sir Bob also gives talks to organisations, in support of his “Twinkle Star” statue fund. He has three subjects: Colchester’s history, which feature his Heritage Walks; reflections on his 18 years as Colchester MP; and the history of Colchester’s schools. For this please contact Sir Bob directly on:

All tickets £5 per person.
Proceeds will go towards a project by Sir Bob to erect a statue of sisters Jane and Ann Taylor who in 1806, in Colchester, wrote arguably the world's favourite nursery rhyme: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".

Tour starts at 10am prompt from outside the Colchester Arts Centre Box Office in Church Street (adjacent to the Quaker Meeting House).

Sensible walking shoes and emergency brolly recommended!
